Pamela was employed as a diversional therapy co-ordinator in a large modern nursing home for over fifteen years, responsible for all aspects of the leisure and recreation programme for frail residents and residents with dementia. She managed the diversional therapy staff and all other aspects of the service.
Pamela has been a lecturer over many years at the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur and in various TAFE Colleges in Welfare and Community Services. She has also been employed as a curriculum writer for TAFE-NSW. In 1997 Pamela established her own business - Diversional Therapy Consultancy Services and has since carried out work for a number of residential aged care services and has conducted many educational workshops related to diversional therapy.
Professional involvement in The Diversional Therapy Association of New South Wales includes two three year terms as President, Treasurer and Management Committee member over many years. Pamela has represented the Association in an official capacity and promoted the profession at many different levels. Pamela was involved in the Steering Committee establishing The Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council and held the position Chairman and Secretary of that National body. She has also held the position of Professional Development Educator of The Diversional Therapy Association of New South Wales, facilitating continuing education programmes for diversional therapists and recreational activities officers. Pamela is a life member of The Diversional Therapy Association of New South Wales and a member of The Diversional Therapy Association of Queensland.
Pamela works as an Aged Care Quality Assessor in Queensland and is also the proprietor of her own business, Diversional Therapy Consultancy Services.
